Promote the Vote California is fortunate to have such incredible partners across the state that do amazing work in civic engagement. From empowerment groups to California Chambers to health networks, we are so grateful for the opportunity to play a small role in what is being done in your communities!
For our first ever Partner Spotlight, we want to take this opportunity to bring attention to the impact that AltaMed Health Services has on their community and beyond. AltaMed has been around for more than 50 years and is dedicated to serving multiethnic communities all over the Southern California region, even beyond the exam room.
In October 2024, the doctors and healthcare providers of AltaMed, along with their civic engagement team, knocked on over 850 doors in their own neighborhoods during a “White Coats for Change” canvassing event to help answer questions about voter registration, what was going to be on the November ballot, and anything else they could offer to their community.
One of AltaMed’s most successful initiatives is called “My Vote. My Health”. This program focuses on encouraging their community members to take their health into their own hands and vote on issues that guarantee clean air and water, safe neighborhoods, education, access to green spaces, and affordable medication. These are all issues that impact health, and AltaMed strives to remind everyone voting is a way to make an impact in these areas.
Aside from helping get their community get registered, they also hosted Flex Voting Centers at 17 AltaMed locations for the November 5 General Election!
