The Elections Division, Office of the California Secretary of State, certifies candidates for the state ballot, places ballot measures on the ballot, provides voter registration cards and coordinates voter outreach drives, certifies voting systems, produces publications relating to elections and voting, certifies the qualification of new political parties, conducts special elections, investigates allegations of voter and registration fraud, reports election results, and administers state and federal elections law in California, including the National Voter Registration Act (also known as Motor Voter) and the Voting Rights Act.
