Business Entities
Chapter 212 (AB 2767 Feuer, Brownley, Evans, Jones, Lieu, Monning)
Among other provisions, this act makes a technical correction to clarify that the Secretary, Treasurer or Chief Financial Officer of a California religious corporation may not serve concurrently as the president or chair of the board.
Chapter 634 (SB 1008 Padilla)
Effective September 30, 2010
This act authorizes persons licensed in engineering or land surveying to form and register domestic limited liability partnerships or register foreign limited liability partnerships in California. The total aggregate limited of liability under the policy or policies of insurance or the amount of security required to be provided by those registered limited liability partnerships providing engineering or land surveying services is $100,000 multiplied by the number of licensed persons, but not less than $2,000,000 and need not be more than $5,000,000, as specified. The provisions of this bill relating to persons licensed in engineering or land surveying will expire on January 1, 2016, absent a later enacted statute altering the expiration date.
Chapter 698 (SB 392 Florez)
Among other provisions, this act authorizes a limited liability company to provide services that are permitted to be provided only pursuant to a license, certification, or registration under the California Business and Professions Code if the applicable provisions of the California Business and Professions Code authorize a limited liability company to hold that license, certificate, or registration. This bill allows the Contractor’s State License Board to issue contractor’s licenses to limited liability companies meeting specified requirements, commencing no later than January 1, 2012.
