Special handling service is available for name reservations, filings and information requests (certificates and copies) delivered in person to the California Secretary of State. Such requests can be dropped off and will be processed in priority over requests submitted by mail.
- The Sacramento office processes all requests for all business entity types.
- The Los Angeles office (1) processes requests to file Articles of Incorporation to form a California corporation and Statement and Designation by Foreign Corporation forms to qualify out-of-state or out-of-country corporations to transact business in California; and (2) processes corporate name reservation requests. Note: Articles of Incorporation containing a statement of conversion must be filed in the Sacramento office.
A $15.00 special handling fee is applicable for each filing request and a $10.00 special handling fee is applicable for each name reservation and information request. Special handling fees are in addition to applicable filing, reservation or order fees, should be included in a separate check, and are retained whether documents/requests are filed/processed or rejected. The special handling fee does not apply to Statement of Information forms, Statement by Common Interest Development Association forms, or to any document/request submitted by mail.
