Research Services
Although available staff time is limited, there is currently no charge for research services. Telephone and email orders are completed in the order we receive them and cannot be expedited. On average, research requests are completed within five business days; however, additional time to complete the copying and mailing portion of the order is normally required. For the most prompt service, researchers are encouraged to visit the California State Archives in person. Researchers can also begin their research at home, by searching our online catalog, Minerva, and our finding aids on the Online Archive of California. Once you have identified records that meet your research criteria, please contact us at least one week prior to your visit. If you provide us with a list of records you wish to view, we can pull all, or some depending on the quantity, prior to your arrival.
The California State Archives does not participate in the Interlibrary Loan program.
