Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., Commemorates Juneteenth

Sacramento, Calif. – California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., today issued the following statement on Juneteenth:

“As we commemorate Juneteenth, it is important to remember that it is not solely about recognizing the freedom of the last enslaved people. It is also about understanding that we must continue to participate in our democracy by registering to vote and voting so we have a say in the decisions made about our lives and our communities. Let’s honor those who fought for the rights we have today by participating in our democracy and making our voices heard."

The General Election is Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
