California Secretary of State Launches 2024 Ballot Bowl

Sacramento, Calif. - The California University and College Ballot Bowl began today. Hosted by the California Secretary of State Students Vote Project (SVP), the Ballot Bowl is a friendly competition where California Community Colleges, California State Universities, University of California campuses, and Independent Colleges and Universities compete to register the most students to vote and showcase civic engagement efforts. The SVP hosts the Ballot Bowl competition in even numbered years for the general election.

The SVP aims to increase civic engagement and voter participation among college students across California. By promoting the Ballot Bowl as a friendly competition to register students, the SVP aims to increase voter turnout for those between the ages of 18-25 for the 2024 Presidential General Election. The Ballot Bowl competition ends on Election Day, November 5, 2024.

"Students are a powerful force in the state of California," said California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D. “Registering to vote is just one piece to the puzzle. The real power lies in actually voting and making their voices heard.”

Results are tracked throughout the competition and are updated weekly here: caballotbowl.sos.ca.gov.
