Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D. Releases Notice to Candidates Running in the March 5, 2024 Presidential Primary Election

SACRAMENTO, CA – Pursuant to state law, Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D. has notified each candidate for partisan and voter-nominated office of the list of candidates she plans to certify to county elections officials on December 28, 2023. The notice includes a list of each federal and state office and the names, addresses, occupations, and party preferences of all candidates qualified to appear at the March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election.

In addition, the Secretary of State has posted the party preference history of each candidate for voter-nominated office for the preceding 10 years, as required by law. The link to this list can be found here: https://elections.cdn.sos.ca.gov/statewide-elections/2024-primary/candidate-10-year.pdf

Prior to certification of the list of candidates on December 28, 2023, candidates can seek a writ in the Sacramento County Superior Court to amend the information contained on the list, such as the designated occupations provided by candidates. 

In addition, presidential candidates can request to the Secretary of State that their name be removed from the ballot and the Secretary of State can add, but not delete, names of presidential candidates through December 28, 2023.
