MERCED, CA – Secretary of State Alex Padilla will attend a National Voter Registration Day and Census Festival hosted by the Latino Community Foundation (LCF) at UC Merced on September 23. The festival will gather over 1,000 Latinx youth and feature voter registration and census pledge drives. Secretary Padilla is slated to speak to a rally of students at 12:00pm, followed by a fireside chat with UC Merced Political Science Professor Jessica Trounstine and LCF CEO Jacqueline Martinez Garcel.
“With both presidential elections and a U.S. Census in 2020, we must do everything to prepare our young people to participate in our democracy,” said Secretary of State Alex Padilla. “Latino youth have an opportunity to make a major impact on our nation, state, and communities by voting and being counted in 2020.”
