New Online California Trademark Search Tool launched through bizfile California Portal

SACRAMENTO, CA – The California Secretary of State today announced the launch of its California Trademark Search tool, which allows individuals to search online for trademark registrations and record modifications.

“The expansion of bizfile California makes it more efficient and easier for entrepreneurs to file their trademarks,” said Secretary of State Alex Padilla. “Our new California Trademark Search tool makes thousands of filings searchable and accessible from the convenience of a laptop, tablet, or smartphone. This online search tool is taking the guesswork out of trademark registration, helping entrepreneurs create logos that are unique to their business.”

Last year, the online portal bizfile California was expanded to allow California entrepreneurs to electronically file trademarks and service marks, as well as form and terminate Limited Liability Companies (LLC) online.

With the new online California Trademark Search tool, customers can now:

  • Search through about 13,000 trademarks on file.
  • Search by:
    • Registration ID;
    • Description of Mark;
    • Registration Date;
    • Classification Code;
    • Name of Owner; and
    • US Patent and Trademark Office Design Codes.
  • View filed documents.
  • Print PDF copies of Trademark documents for free.
