California State Archives Offers Free Behind-the-Scenes State Parks Tour

SACRAMENTO, CA - The State Archives will provide a free behind-the-scenes guided tour of their collections, focusing on California State Parks. The State Archives' collections of historic records include more than 100 million documents, 20,000 maps and architectural drawings, 250,000 photographs and thousands of video and audio recordings. Each guided tour provides a close encounter with the Archives’ one-of-a-kind historical documents and behind-the-scenes views of the preservation and imaging labs and free admission to its Exhibit Gallery. This month’s tour will include documents and photographs related to State Parks, with a particular focus on Yosemite.

The Archives tour begins promptly at 10:00 a.m., lasting approximately one hour. As parking downtown can be challenging, please give yourself ample time to find parking. Questions are encouraged and tours sometimes go over an hour, so please ensure that your metered parking allows an 11:30 a.m. return.

This is a free, but ticketed event.
