Special October California State Archives Behind-the-Scenes Tour: Celebrating Halloween

SACRAMENTO - In celebration of Halloween, the State Archives will provide a FREE guided tour of their collections, focusing on some of the more spooky and spine-tingling items in California’s state history. The State Archives' collections of historic, Halloween-related records include photographs of costumes, clothing artifacts, items relating to Preston Castle, and candy and Halloween-themed trademarks. Each guided tour provides a close encounter with the Archives’ one-of-a-kind historical documents, a behind the scenes look at the preservation and imaging labs, and free admission to its Exhibit Gallery.

The Archives tour begins promptly at 10:00 a.m., lasting approximately one hour. As parking downtown can be challenging, please give yourself ample time to find parking. Questions are encouraged and tours sometimes go over an hour, so please ensure that your metered parking allows an 11:30 a.m. return.

This is a free, but ticketed event.

*Media interested in a preview of tour items should contact SOS.Press@sos.ca.gov
