Secretary of State Alex Padilla on the Passing of Southwest Voter Registration Education Project’s Antonio Gonzalez
SACRAMENTO – Secretary of State Alex Padilla issued the following statement today after learning of the passing of Antonio Gonzalez, President of the Southwest Voter Registration Education Project.
"Angela and I are saddened to learn of the passing of Antonio Gonzalez, a true voting rights warrior. He was selfless in his pursuit of fair representation, providing underrepresented communities with the tools and skills necessary to register and vote, and ensuring that the Latino community had a seat at the table in the fight for environmental and social justice. He was an effective partner and a friend. He will be missed."
