Polls Now Open in California
SACRAMENTO - Today Californians will head to the polls to vote on 11 statewide propositions, and the general elections for U.S. Senator, U.S. House of Representatives, Statewide Constitutional offices, and State Legislative offices. Polls are open from 7:00am to 8:00pm.
“Election Day is finally here,” Secretary of State Alex Padilla said. “Voter registration is at an all-time high, so it should be an exciting day for democracy in California."
“The Secretary of State’s office provides many resources for voters before they head to the polls on Election Day. Californians can look-up their polling place online at: http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/polling-place/. California voters have a right to cast a ballot, as long as they are in line at the polls by 8:00pm. Voters who still have their vote-by-mail ballot can drop it off at any polling location, vote center, or ballot dropbox,” Padilla said.

Conditional Voter Registration
“There is a new opportunity for California citizens who missed the voter registration deadline — conditional voter registration," Secretary of State Alex Padilla said.
“If you missed the regular voter registration deadline, you may not be able to vote at your local polling place or by mail, but you still have an opportunity to cast a ballot. Between now and Election Day, you can go to your county election office or a designated satellite location to complete the conditional voter registration process by filing out a voter registration card and a ballot. Once county elections officials complete the regular voter registration verification process, your ballot will be processed and your vote will be counted. This is yet another step California is taking to lead the nation in expanding voting rights and access to the ballot,” Padilla added.

Voter Bill of Rights
“In California we have a Voter Bill of Rights, so that every eligible voter can cast a ballot easily, confidentially, and free from intimidation. The California Voter Bill of Rights is printed in the Voter Information Guide, which was sent to every voting household in the state, and will also be posted in every polling place and vote center on Election Day. The Voter Bill of Rights is available online in ten languages: http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/voter-bill-rights/.”
“The Secretary of State’s office also released a video outlining the California Bill of Rights in English and Spanish. It only takes minutes to review your rights before heading to the polls," Padilla added.

“The Secretary of State's office also operates a toll free voter hotline. Voters can call to ask election-related questions, to file complaints, or to confidentially report potential election fraud or voter intimidation,” Padilla said.
