State Archives Speaker Series: Lynn Downey to Discuss Levi Strauss:

The Man Who Gave Blue Jeans to the World

The California State Archives Speaker Series continues Thursday, January 18, with author Lynn Downey. She will discuss the widely unknown life of Levi Strauss, the creator of blue jeans, a quintessentially American fashion piece. Her full-length biography, Levi Strauss: The Man Who Gave Blue Jeans to the World, sets the record straight about this classic American success story.

Lynn Downey is a native California writer, archivist and historian, the fifth generation of her family to live in the beautiful city of Sonoma. After twenty-four years as historian and archivist for Levi Strauss & Co., Lynn is now a historical and archival consultant. She works with museums, businesses and non-profits to create archives, curate exhibits, write books, and plan anniversaries.

The speaker series is sponsored by the Friends of the State Archives.

This is a free, but ticketed event.
