Secretary of State Alex Padilla Statement on the Passing of Greg Schmidt
SACRAMENTO – Secretary of State Alex Padilla issued the following statement regarding the passing of Greg Schmidt, former Secretary of the California State Senate.
“I was deeply saddened to learn of Greg Schmidt’s passing. Serving on the Rules Committee, I spent time with Greg every week for my first two years in the Senate. Greg was steeped in knowledge of every intricacy of the Capitol and was generous with his time. He loved the institution and its history and was an expert in procedure. He was friendly and disarming and had a great sense of humor. He was real character and a wonderful human being. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with him and learn from him. His passing is a real loss for the Capitol community. My heart goes out to his family.”
