Jeb Bush and Chris Christie Remove Names from California Presidential Primary Ballot
SACRAMENTO – The names of Governor Jeb Bush and Governor Chris Christie will not appear on the Republican Party’s Presidential Primary ballot in California.
Pursuant to California Elections Code, Governor Bush and Governor Christie filed affidavits with California Secretary of State Alex Padilla today requesting to be removed from California’s June 7, 2016 Presidential Primary Election ballot.
On March 25, 2016, Secretary of State Padilla received an affidavit from Florida Senator Marco Rubio requesting to be removed to from the California ballot. A total of three Republican candidates for President have now requested to remove their names from the Presidential Primary ballot in California.
If a presidential candidate wishes to have his or her name withdrawn from the California Presidential Primary Election ballot, the candidate must file an affidavit with the Secretary of State no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 1, 2016.
