Californians Can Celebrate Veterans Day Early Through “Honor Veterans. Vote.” Program
SACRAMENTO –With Veterans Day two weeks away, and Election Day only 11 days away, Secretary of State Alex Padilla is urging Californians to dedicate their vote in honor of a family member or friend who served or is actively serving in the military through the “Honor Veterans. Vote” program. The program provides California citizens the opportunity to pay tribute to a veteran or active duty service member with a personalized message that is posted publicly on the Secretary of State’s website.
“Our democracy is possible thanks to the service and sacrifice of our veterans and active duty members of our military,” said Secretary of State Alex Padilla. “With Veterans Day and the November 8 General Election fast approaching, voters can honor these sacrifices when casting a ballot this year. Through the Honor Veterans. Vote. program, Californians can dedicate their vote in honor of a family member or friend who is a veteran or actively serving and have a personal message of appreciation displayed on the Secretary of State’s website.”
California citizens can visit honorveterans.sos.ca.gov and submit information about the veteran or active duty service member they wish to honor—including branch of service, rank, and years of service—and provide a brief dedication that may be included on the Secretary of State’s website. Californians who participate can choose to receive a certificate or a lapel pin to proudly display appreciation for their honored veteran or active duty service member.
