The Archives Crawl provides the public an opportunity to tour four host locations and view treasures from dozens of archives and special collections libraries, visit with archivists, and go on special behind-the-scenes tours. The event is part of California Archives Month, which is recognized yearly during October. In addition to the State Archives, the California State Library, the Center for Sacramento History, and the Sacramento Public Library also serve as host locations.
All participants receive a “passport” with a map of the host locations, information on participating archives and libraries, and other information. Crawlers who visit the host locations will receive a stamp in their passport, and those who receive stamps from at least three of the four host locations are eligible to receive a set of limited edition commemorative coasters.
