State Archives Speaker Series to Host California Artist Monica Lundy

The California State Archives Speaker Series continues Thursday, May 21. Artist Monica Lundy will highlight her work during a presentation entitled “Stories Untold: Finding Artistic Inspiration Through Historical Research.”

Lundy holds a MFA from Mills College in painting and a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in sculpture. She has been awarded the Jay DeFeo Prize, San Francisco Arts Commission Grant and Montalvo Arts Center’s Irvine Fellowship. She has done site specific work on Alcatraz Island, Fort Point, and other locations around the San Francisco Bay Area. Her work has been featured in ARTNews, the Huffington Post, Visual Art Source, and the San Francisco Chronicle, and other publications. Lundy currently lives and works in Oakland, California.
