Randomized Alphabet Drawing Set for January 26
Will Determine Order of Candidate Names in Senate District 7, Senate District 21 and Senate District 37 Special Elections
- WHAT:
- Secretary of State Alex Padilla's staff will hold a randomized alphabet drawing to determine the order in which candidates' names will appear on the March 17 special primary election ballots and, if necessary, the May 19 special runoff election ballots in the 7th, 21st and 37th Senate Districts.
The Senate District 7 special election is being held to fill the vacancy left by the election of Mark DeSaulnier to the U.S. House of Representatives.
The Senate District 21 special election is being held to fill the vacancy left by the election of Steve Knight to the U.S. House of Representatives.
The Senate District 37 special election is being held to fill the vacancy left by the election of Mimi Walters to the U.S. House of Representatives.
The candidate filing deadline for these contests is January 23.
