Secretary of State Bowen Announces
Certified List of 4th Senate District Candidates

SACRAMENTO - Secretary of State Debra Bowen today announced the certified list of candidates who will appear on the November 6 Special Primary Election ballot for the 4th Senate District. The candidates and their official ballot designations are:

• Michael "Mickey" Harrington (Party Preference: Democratic) – Labor Council President
• Dan Logue (Party Preference: Republican) – Small Business Owner
• Jim Nielsen (Party Preference: Republican) – Rancher/Independent Businessman
• Benjamin “Ben” Emery (No Party Preference) – Ranch Manager
• Dan Levine (No Party Preference) – Graduate Student/Rancher
• Jann Reed (No Party Preference) – School Board Member

The Special Primary Election will be held to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Doug LaMalfa.

In a special primary, if one candidate receives a majority of the votes cast (50 percent plus one), no additional election is necessary. If no candidate receives a majority of the votes, a run-off election will be held on January 8, 2013, with a ballot featuring the two candidates who received the most votes in the primary, regardless of party preference.
